Ship Harbor Trail - Real Bar Harbor Haunt

- Acadia National Park
- Bar Harbor, ME
Details
Located in Acadia National Park, The Ship Harbor Trail spans 1.3 miles along the coast and through a coniferous forest. Not only is it a scenic spot for visitors, but it's also known to be one of the most haunted places in Maine. Local legend says the area is cursed, likely because there have been multiple shipwrecks. In the 1700s, a ship carrying around 200 people wrecked off the coast. Most of the passengers died and were buried in unmarked graves, while the survivors ventured into the wilderness, never to be seen again. Some of the eerie paranormal reports here include the sounds of moaning, howling, and groaning - believed to be the ghosts of those who froze to death in the cold.
