The McLellan-Sweat Mansion is a historic location on High Street in Portland that was built in the early 1800s. The mansion was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970 and is believed to be haunted. The ghost that haunts the place is the same ghost known to haunt the nearby Clapp House. Captain Asa Clapp's apparition has been spotted, and other paranormal reports include disembodied footsteps, cold spots, and an overall eerie presence.
